UHiring a designer for Blitz Creed was a big deal. After all, the right designer could turn our rough ideas into something that looked professional and engaging.

We started by putting out ads on platforms like Freelancer and searching for designers on job marketplaces like Fiverr or UpworkBe sure to filter for your requirements accordingly.

Don't go into it empty handed. If you don’t have a clear idea of what you want, the process can drag on forever; whether it’s rough sketches, a mood board, or even just a general idea of the style you want.

The clearer you are about your vision, the easier it will be for the designer to understand what you’re looking for and create something that fits. Trust me, it’ll save you so much time and frustration.

We also came across sites for free vector art including Freepik & Vecteezy, sites for finding free and paid vector files.

We found a few designs that we liked and instead of using them directly, we reached out to the creators to see if they were open to licensing or customising their work.

It was a creative way to find artists and saved us a ton of effort!

If your budget allows, consider reaching out to designers on social media platforms like Instagram. Many talented artists share their portfolios there and sending a direct message could open doors for an affordable collaboration.

But remember: you get what you pay for... Higher quality designers come at a higher cost and lower quality designers are often cheaper.

That being said, it's not impossible to find incredible artists for a fair price. Just search really hard, it may take days to find your designer, don't settle for less!

The Challenges to Expect

Hiring a designer sounds exciting, but there are a few things to keep in mind:

Language barriers

If you’re working with designers from different countries, language can sometimes get in the way. Be patient, clear and don’t be afraid to ask for clarification.

Time differences

If your designer is in a different time zone, communication might take longer. Be prepared for some late night messaging.

Multiple iterations and drafts

The first draft is rarely the final one. Expect several rounds of feedback, revisions and adjustments. It’s all part of the process.

Finding the right style

Not every designer will match your vision immediately. Be prepared for a little trial and error until you find the right fit.

Budget constraints

High-quality designers come at a higher price. If you’re on a tight budget, be clear about what you can afford and prioritise the most important elements of the design.

Slow responses

Sometimes designers get busy. It’s important to set clear expectations and deadlines, but also be patient when delays happen.

In the end, hiring a designer is about finding the right person who understands your vision and can help bring your game to life visually.
